The Nest
Like You've Never Seen It Before
A common theme in all of the JCR hustings last year was a desire to improve The Nest, both socially and visually. This has already started to be achieved through the hard work and vision of the current JCR.
The Events
Events officers Ralph and Louis have been working hard to produce an excellent timetable of events this term, mainly utilising The Nest space. Next week is a big one - starting with the Returners Social on the 8th featuring Jimmys own DJ Dave B. On the 10th October the event ‘South Take Me Out’ (a spin on the classic TV show) will take place. Make sure to come down to see myself and other Southies try and secure a date around Van Mildert pond. Pub quizzes are going to become a staple of South social life. Come see big South personalities host quizzes, and if you feel confident enough reach out to the events officers about hosting your own next term. While Ralph and Louis have provided a variety of unique events, the one no Southie should miss is the return of the Movember social - pairing having a good time with raising money for a great cause.
The Drinks
Some of you will have been lucky enough to try the Freshers week special drinks (my personal favourite being All Gone South, matching in the slogan on the freshers week T-Shirts), but returners and freshers alike will be united by a love for the South College signature cocktails. The debate between if you prefer a Purple Hooter or a Pond Water can get quite heated, but I think we can all agree that when having a quick trip to the Nest a South shot is the way to go! ∎
