Next year DU Women in Sports is having a Southie takeover! As President I am proud to have fellow South College students Harriet Hurley-Sweeney and Mia Stevens as my Social Secretary and Treasurer.

The aim of this society is to provide a comfortable environment for women to try new sports, from the assumption that you have never played or heard of it before. We work alongside Team Durham clubs to produce these sessions.

This year we have offered everything from Lacrosse and Trampolining to Gaelic Football and MMA. The Cheer session was even held in our beloved Hub. It is a great opportunity to try something new, while supporting a charitable cause. Next year we hope to offer an equally impressive range.

The South representation on the executive committee is a great example of Southies taking leadership roles in the wider university committee. I hope that next year South can also dominate session attendance. ∎
